The Art of Bioshock Infinite

A
Surely, Bioshock Infinite has made quite a name in the video game history. It’s a perfect blend of story, game-play and specially art which is pretty interesting rather outlandish. Well, we don’t expect anything less when the Creative Director is Ken Levine, who is also the Co-founder of Irrational Games. He has also worked on games like Thief: The Dark Project and System Shock 2 and was named as “The Story teller of the Decade” by Game Informer. That does explain why Bioshock Infinite is story oriented. It seems like you’re watching a movie but instead of just watching it, you are one of the main characters and experiencing the whole story by yourself. It’s a whole new level of game-play seamlessly blending with the story-line.

The City of Columbia

The city is suspended in the air through a combination of "quantum levitation" and giant blimps and balloons. The city looks sort of steam-punk with vibrant colors and the blinding light of the sun gives it a kind of heavenly feel.

Characters And Enemies

Automans

These are automatic machines which shoot you at sight within a certain range. You can turn them into your allies with the help of vigours and use them to your advantage for fighting enemies.

Motorized Patriot

This is one interesting character modeled in the likeness of George Washington carrying two American flags positioned in such a way that they look like wings. They are fearless and have no sense of self -preservation. These enemies carry a Gatling gun which can be used by the player after killing the Patriot. Here are the concepts which were designed for the Motorized Patriot.

Boy of Silence

The name is creepy and the character is creepier. They are outfitted in blue school uniform like suits. They wear large metal helmets which have old time speakers in place of ears. And they look even more scary with their mouth open. These are young men brainwashed from childhood and forced into total subservience.

Handyman

The handyman is an archetypal armored enemy with an exposed heart. They were created a s a procedural method to help the disabled and severely injured citizens to be able bodied and helping these citizens regain their vitality. However, his procedure came with a large price of having to live with a large and highly disproportionate body. From the quotes throughout the game, they seem to be in a lot of pain and unsatisfied with the Autobody procedure.

Song Bird

Song bird is a steampunked design of a bird which looks like an eagle but with huge arms and legs. Its a 60 foot creature feared by the citizens of Columbia.

The Siren

Siren is the alternative dead-alive form of Lady Comstock who can resurrect the dead. In the game, she is scary, powerful, fast and does not die easily. The character reflects anger and resentment and is confused with the fact of being dead or alive.

Lady Comstock

All the characters in the game are pretty distinctive in nature and have a strong background story. The developers made sure to introduce idiosyncratic bizarre characters with a ground reality to them.
